DEAR MR. MAZZOLA,

MY NAME IS AMERICA WILSON I AM THE EX-SPOUSE OF SGT. LUIS ROSA-VALENTIN. HE IS CURRENTLY AT WALTER REED MEDICAL CENTER AFTER HAVING SOME INJURIES IN IRAQ. HE WAS HURT ON APRIL 21, 2008 TWO DAYS BEFORE HIS 25TH BIRTHDAY. HE CAME BACK TO THE U.S. ON APRIL 25, 2008 A THREE PART AMPUTEE. ON TOP OF BEING A THREE PART AMPUTEE LUIS IS ALSO DEAF, 70% + BLIND AND HAS HAD MANY SURGERIES AND OTHER THINGS TO SAVE HIM. HE HAS HAD LASICK SURGERY TO SAVE HIS EYES AND METAL PLATES ADDED IN HIS FACE TO PROTECT THE STRUCTURE OF HIS FACE.

THROUGH OUT ALL OF THESE HARD TIMES LUIS AND I ARE TRYING TO WORK TOGETHER ON OUR RELATIONSHIP FOR THE SAKE OF OUR THREE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. MILINDA DOESN'T REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT IS GOING ON AND WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO HER FATHER. SHE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND HIS HEARING LOSS AMONG OTHER THINGS. WE ARE A FAMILY WHO IS GOING THOUGH HARD TIMES RIGHT NOW AND WE NEED HELP EMOTIONALLY,MENTALLY, FINANCAILLY ETC...

TWO DAYS BEFORE LUIS GOT ATTACKED IN IRAQ OUR X-TERRA HAD TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND HAS NOT BEEN FIXED SINCE HIS ACCIDENT. ONE OF THE MANY PROBLEMS OUR FAMILY HAS. IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME GET INFORMATION ON WHAT I CAN DO OR WHAT HELP I CAN RECIVE PLEASE LET ME KNOW. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

While the war on terrorism continues and we sit safely out of harm's way in our own homes, we need not take for granted that thousands of miles away our service men and women stand ready to put their lives on the line in order to protect our liberties and freedoms, as well as the freedom of others.

Additionally, we recognize that our 2 million service men and women abroad have families and loved ones back home who go to bed every night praying for their safe return. In other words, for every single courageous member of our Armed Forces serving, there are family members back home who are, in a sense, serving and sacrificing with them. And so I ask you, as a concerned U.S. citizen, to be mindful of the fact that our freedoms and liberties we enjoy daily in this beautiful country have been bought with a price!
